Friends of Canonchet Farm Annual Meeting

Prentice Stout, well know naturalist and presenter, will narrate a film on the natural and cultural history of Point Judith Pond at the Annual Meeting of the Friends of Canonchet Farm. Guided Bird Walk

Mike Tucker, Manager of Caratunk Wildlife Refuge and well known birding expert will identify birds seen and heard at Canonchet Farm. Meet in Ann Hoxsie Lane parking lot directly across from Narragansett Town Beach South Pavilion. Some binoculars will be available. Use of bug spray is advised.
Planning Board Workshop

An opportunity for the public to give input on plans for Canonchet Farm that may be presented. The Friends of Canonchet Farm president Thomas Fortier will be making a presentation. Time and place has not yet been posted. Probably it will be 6 PM at the Narragansett Community Center. All interested people are urged to attend.

Seeking out Signs of Spring in Canonchet Farm, Sunday, April 11: Friends of Canonchet Farm President Tom Fortier will guide a walk through the woods at Canonchet Farm in Narragansett on Sunday, April 11 \"to seek out signs of spring\" along the trails and ponds in this unique woodland area. Participants should wear boots or similar footwear as the Farm, like the rest of Rhode Island, is recovering from the recent heavy rains. This guided walk sponsored by Friends of Canonchet Farm is free and open to the public; the event starts at 1:00 p.m. on Anne Hoxsie Lane, across Boston Neck Road (Route 1A) from the Narragansett Town Beach. Earliest Native Americans at Canonchet Farm

A Walk with a View: Friends of Canonchet Farm Secretary Kathie Kelleher will lead a walk to acquaint visitors with the trails and stone walls that course throough the property and to take advantage of views of Pettaquamscutt Cove and Little Neck Pond now possible as most of the leaves are off the trees. This walk presents an opportunity to renew your connection to the natural world and to escape for a few moments the activity of the season. Reading the Forested Landscape

Tom Wessels, author, educator, and ecologist, will interpret the history of Canonchet Farm\\\'s forest while wandering through it. He will unravel complex stories etched into the forested landscape. Tom was the keynote speaker at the Land & Water Conservation Summit held at URI in March. This walk is from 2 to 4 PM and begins at South County Museum, Strathmore Street, Narragansett.
